Heavy rains in Pune have led to severe waterlogging in Karvenagar, especially near Trimurti Gym. Locals blame blocked rain channels and civic apathy for repeated flooding and two-wheeler accidents.
Pune, June 20, 2025: Persistent heavy rainfall since Thursday morning has thrown daily life out of gear in several parts of Pune, especially Karvenagar, where streets have turned into water pools, leaving residents frustrated and inconvenienced.
In particular, the stretch near Trimurti Gym has turned into a flood-prone zone. Though a rainwater drainage line exists in the area, locals allege it has been completely blocked, causing the rainwater from nearby slopes to stagnate on the road.
“Every time it rains, the water settles here because there’s no proper outlet. The rain channels were choked during excavation work and haven’t been cleared since,” said a resident of the area.
This stagnant water is causing accidents, especially for two-wheeler riders, who struggle to navigate the invisible potholes and slippery roads. Locals report that many riders have lost control while passing through the area.
A citizen, criticized the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) for failing to address basic civic issues. “The administration is simply not responding. Drainage, road conditions, and maintenance have deteriorated under their watch. We’re left to fend for ourselves,” he said.
Residents are now demanding immediate cleaning of rainwater channels, proper maintenance of slopes and drainage, and a response mechanism from the municipal administration to prevent further mishaps.
