Latur| July 28, 2025: A horrifying incident has emerged from Pangaon village in Latur district, Maharashtra, where a woman was allegedly set on fire by her husband and his accomplices for questioning him about taking a friend out for a walk. The incident has sparked outrage, with the victim currently battling for life with 70% burns at the Government Medical College and Hospital in Latur.
According to the woman’s statement, the incident began with a simple question to her husband, which escalated into a heated argument. In a fit of rage, the husband poured petrol on her, and his friend immediately lit a match to set her ablaze. In a shocking revelation, the woman also accused her mother-in-law of locking the door from the inside, while her brother-in-law locked it from the outside — indicating preplanned involvement in the attack.
The brutal act left the woman severely injured. Doctors treating her have stated that her condition remains critical. Based on her statement, Renapur police have registered a case against the husband, mother-in-law, brother-in-law, and the husband’s friend. Authorities have launched a full investigation and assured that the accused will be arrested soon.
This incident has raised serious concerns about domestic violence and collective cruelty within families, demanding strict legal action and social awareness.
