Minister Ashish Shelar announced a 25% discount for musical plays at Ravindra Natya Griha. The initiative, revealed during a book launch, aims to support and revive Marathi musical theatre.

Mumbai | July 16, 2025: In a significant move to promote Marathi musical theatre, Cultural Affairs Minister Ashish Shelar announced a 25% concession on select sessions at Ravindra Natya Griha and Laghu Natya Griha. The announcement was made during the launch of the book “Koham Soham”, a tribute to late veteran singer-actor Arvind Pilgaonkar, edited by Tapasya Newe.

The event, held at the Laghu Natya Griha of Ravindra Natya Mandir, was graced by several eminent personalities from the theatre and music world, including actress Nayana Apte, singers Ajit Kadkade, Dinesh Pilgaonkar, and Ramdas Bhatkal.

Speaking on the occasion, Minister Shelar praised “Koham Soham” as more than just a memoir — describing it as a historical record of Marathi musical theatre and Mumbai’s rich cultural legacy. He urged the youth to read the book as it reflects deep traditions of classical and sub-classical music through Pilgaonkar’s life.

To further support the art form, Shelar announced that 24 sessions at Ravindra Natya Griha and 12 at Laghu Natya Griha will now be available at 25% discounted rates. These concessional slots will be provided on Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays from 9:30 AM to 2 PM.

The initiative aims to encourage the staging of more musical plays and increase audience engagement with the genre, preserving and promoting Maharashtra’s theatrical heritage.
