A tragic accident in Baramati claimed the lives of Omkar Acharya and his two daughters. Grief-stricken, their grandfather Rajendra Acharya died soon after. The entire city mourns the four-fold loss.
Baramati | July 28, 2025: A devastating accident in Baramati’s Khandobanagar area has left the entire city in mourning after four members of the same family died within hours. A dumper truck fatally struck a two-wheeler at Mahatma Phule Chowk on Morgaon Road around 11:30 am on Sunday, killing Omkar Acharya and his two young daughters, Madhura and Sai.
Omkar Acharya, a resident of Sansar (Indapur taluka) who was living on Morgaon Road in Baramati, died on the spot. His daughters, who were with him at the time of the accident, succumbed to their injuries during treatment. The tragic incident has shattered the Acharya family.
The grief worsened when Rajendra Acharya, a retired teacher and father of Omkar, died of shock shortly after hearing about the loss of his son and granddaughters. Within hours, the Acharya family lost three generations — a father, his daughters, and their grieving grandfather.
The incident has cast a shadow of sorrow over Baramati, with many expressing shock and sympathy. NCP MP Supriya Sule shared her condolences on social media, calling the deaths “heartbreaking” and stating, “We all share in the immense grief that has befallen the Acharya family. Emotional tribute.”
The accident has reignited calls for stricter traffic regulation and safety measures on busy routes like Morgaon Road, where reckless driving continues to claim lives.
