Pune | 29 July, 2025: In a major cybercrime bust, Pimpri Chinchwad Cyber Police have arrested a self-proclaimed film producer from Pune for allegedly aiding Chinese nationals in committing online financial fraud worth over ₹86 lakh.
The accused, identified as Shivam Balkrishna Samvatsarkar, reportedly opened a bank account under the name Balaji Enterprises at the behest of a Chinese individual known as Bombini. This account was used to receive fraudulently obtained funds, and police say it has been linked to over 15 cyber fraud cases.
Investigations reveal that a staggering ₹86,43,111 was routed through this single account. Police have also uncovered two additional bank accounts accessed via Shivam’s mobile phone. Two mobile phones have been seized from him as part of the probe.
Shivam, a resident of Pune, allegedly used his fake identity as a film producer to open the account and carry out the fraudulent transactions discreetly. The Cyber Police are now delving deeper into his connections and the possibility of a larger racket involving foreign operatives.
This arrest has raised concerns about how local individuals are being recruited or influenced by international cybercrime networks.
