A Navi Mumbai teacher was booked under the POCSO Act for making obscene video calls to a minor student. The police seized her phone and launched a detailed investigation into the incident.
Navi Mumbai | July 30, 2025: A deeply disturbing case has surfaced in Navi Mumbai where a private school teacher has been booked under the POCSO Act for allegedly making an obscene video call to a minor student from her own school. The Koparkhairane Police have taken swift action and the accused teacher has been remanded in police custody for one day.
According to the investigation, the teacher was regularly chatting with the minor on Instagram and reportedly made a semi-nude video call during their conversation. The communication continued for several days until the student, feeling uncomfortable, confided in his parents. Realizing the severity of the incident, the parents approached the Koparkhairane Police Station and filed a formal complaint.
The complaint stated that the teacher’s behavior could have serious psychological effects on the minor. Based on this, police immediately detained the teacher and registered a case under the stringent POCSO Act. The teacher was produced before the court, which ordered one-day police custody.
Authorities have seized the accused’s mobile phone and initiated a technical probe. Investigators are also examining whether similar behavior was repeated with other students and are retrieving digital evidence from social media and mobile data.

In light of the incident, police have urged all parents to closely monitor their children’s use of mobile phones and social media platforms. If any inappropriate or suspicious behavior is noticed, they are encouraged to report it to the police without delay.
