Rahul Gandhi criticized the Modi government in Lok Sabha over Operation Sindoor and the Pahalgam attack, raising foreign policy concerns, Trump’s ceasefire claims, and demanding full freedom for armed forces.

New Delhi | July 30, 2025: The Lok Sabha witnessed a heated debate on Tuesday over the recent Pahalgam terror attack and the government’s response through Operation Sindoor. The discussion, initiated a day earlier, escalated with Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi fiercely attacking the Modi government and challenging Prime Minister Narendra Modi over national security and foreign policy issues.

Rahul Gandhi questioned the government’s silence on former US President Donald Trump’s repeated claims of brokering a ceasefire between India and Pakistan. “Trump claimed 29 times that he arranged the ceasefire. If that’s a lie, then why doesn’t the Prime Minister publicly say Trump is lying?” he asked.

The Congress leader expressed concern over India’s diplomatic isolation post the Pahalgam attack, stating, “Not a single country condemned Pakistan. What does this indicate about our foreign policy?” He alleged that Trump dined with accused Pakistani General Munir, further complicating India’s diplomatic position.

He also raised serious questions about the government’s military strategy. Recalling Indira Gandhi’s leadership during the 1971 war, Rahul Gandhi said, “She gave full freedom to General Manekshaw, leading to the surrender of 1 lakh Pakistani soldiers.” In contrast, he claimed the current leadership restricted Indian pilots from striking enemy air defence, which allegedly led to the loss of fighter jets.

While reaffirming the Opposition’s support for the army, Rahul Gandhi emotionally recounted the Pahalgam incident, stating, “A husband was shot in front of his wife. It’s a national tragedy. Every Indian feels this pain.”

He emphasized, “If you want to use the army, give it complete freedom. The tiger must be set free.”
