Rain intensity in Kolhapur has decreased. Radhanagari dam gates closed, Panchganga river level receding. Four highways, seven roads still submerged. 23 rural houses collapsed; damages estimated at ₹8.95 lakh.
Kolhapur | July 30, 2025: After days of continuous rainfall, Kolhapur witnessed a welcome decline in rain intensity on Tuesday, offering much-needed relief to residents. Although intermittent showers continued, the city saw brighter spells throughout the day. Notably, rainfall in the dam catchment areas has also eased, prompting the closure of all automatic gates of the Radhanagari Dam. Currently, 1,500 cusecs of water is being discharged through the powerhouse.
As a result, the water level of the Panchganga river is gradually receding. At 9 PM Tuesday, the level was recorded at 34 feet 11 inches — ten inches lower than earlier in the day. Six dams have been opened, while 47 remain submerged.
Despite the improving situation, parts of Kolhapur city experienced heavy showers around 3 PM, followed by a temporary break in rainfall and light showers in the evening. Radhanagari continued to record substantial rainfall.
Flooding has begun to recede across the district, but infrastructure damage lingers. Four state highways and seven district roads remain underwater, and traffic has been diverted through alternate routes. ST bus services are still suspended on one route. In rural areas, 23 houses have collapsed due to the ongoing rains, with estimated damages amounting to ₹8.95 lakh. Floodwaters have also retreated from the road leading to the river ghats.
