Sadhvi Pragya’s Explosive Claim Sparks Debate After Malegaon Verdict

Sadhvi Pragya, acquitted in the Malegaon blast case, now alleges ATS harassment and pressure to frame Modi-Yogi. Her claims, absent from past records, spark political speculation and disbelief.

Mumbai | August 5, 2025: Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur, recently acquitted in the 2008 Malegaon blast case, has alleged harassment by the Maharashtra ATS and claimed she was pressured to implicate PM Modi and UP CM Yogi Adityanath. These statements, made after her acquittal on July 31, have stirred political and legal circles, especially as such claims were never made during the 17-year-long trial or even during her 2019 election campaign.

In her 2008 affidavit filed in a Nashik court, Sadhvi Pragya detailed alleged custodial torture by ATS officers, including beatings and humiliation. However, no reference to Modi or Yogi was made in that affidavit. Her fresh claims have raised eyebrows, with speculation that she is attempting to regain political relevance after reportedly being sidelined by the BJP in the 2024 elections due to her controversial remarks.

A senior retired official from the investigation has dismissed her allegations as false, asserting that Modi and Yogi had no link to the case. The Malegaon blast killed six and injured over 100; lack of evidence led to the acquittal of all accused.
