A BJP MP and two others have been booked in Karnataka after a driver’s suicide note accused them of financial fraud and abetment to suicide. Investigation is underway from all angles.
Chikkaballapur | August 8, 2025: A major political stir has erupted in Karnataka after a case was registered against BJP MP K. Sudhakar and two others in connection with the suicide of a driver, M. Babu, in Chikkaballapur. The suicide note left behind by Babu before ending his life has led to the registration of a case under charges of financial fraud, abetment to suicide, and the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.
The tragic incident came to light on Tuesday morning when Babu was found hanging from a tree near the Chikkaballapur Deputy Commissioner’s office around 8:30 am. According to Superintendent of Police Kushal Chowkse, a detailed investigation is underway. “These are serious allegations. We are probing whether the MP was directly involved or if his name was misused,” he said.
The suicide note reportedly names MP K. Sudhakar, along with Nagesh and Manjunath, accusing them of cheating Babu of ₹25 lakh by promising him a government job. Babu, who had been working as a contract driver in the Zilla Parishad for the past six years, also alleged that a Zilla Parishad accounting assistant encouraged him to take this extreme step. Following the complaint filed by his wife, Shilpa, the police registered a formal case against all three accused.
Responding to the incident from Delhi, MP K. Sudhakar denied any involvement, expressing grief over Babu’s death. “I am deeply saddened to hear about this. I have never seen or met this man named Babu in my life,” Sudhakar stated. He added that he heard about others taking ₹10–15 lakh from Babu, but denied knowing them personally as well.
As the investigation progresses, political tensions have intensified in the region, with calls for an impartial probe and justice for the deceased.
