Traffic troubles in Chakan have prompted Deputy Chief Minister and Guardian Minister Ajit Pawar to order immediate road development after encroachment removal to smooth the traffic system.

Pune | August 09, 2025: Deputy Chief Minister and Guardian Minister Ajit Pawar has directed concerned agencies to urgently widen roads in Chakan after encroachments are cleared, in order to prevent recurring traffic jams. Speaking at a review meeting at the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) headquarters in Akurdi, Pawar stressed the need for prompt coordination between departments so road work follows clearance without delay.

Poor roads, heavy vehicular movement, and widespread encroachments in the Chakan MIDC and surrounding areas have long troubled residents, workers, and businesses. Pawar urged the RTO and police to work together to impose time restrictions on heavy vehicles, set up a truck terminal in the MIDC area, and resolve related issues such as garbage management. He also instructed officials to take legal action against anyone obstructing road development.

During the meeting, PMRDA Metropolitan Commissioner Dr. Yogesh Mhase presented a detailed, time-bound master plan to address congestion in the Chakan area.
