Despite past punishments like the Bibwewadi case, gunfire incidents continue—latest in Bhimnagar where two men opened fire after a speeding dispute. Arrests made, but fear of law remains absent.

Pune | May 26, 2025: In a disturbing repeat of public gun violence, a man opened fire in Bhimnagar settlement early Sunday (May 25), sparking alarm among residents. The shooting occurred after locals confronted a speeding two-wheeler rider near the Bhimnagar arch. Thankfully, no injuries were reported.
Complainant Kiran Yashwant Kedari (36, Gokhalenagar) stated that he and his friends were chatting when a speeding black bike entered the area. After stopping the rider and warning him about reckless driving, the pillion rider—Rohit Dilip Mane (33, Lohianagar), a known habitual offender—got aggressive. When confronted, the bike rider, Qasim Asif Sheikh (23, Ghorpadi Peth), pulled a pistol from his waist and fired before fleeing.
Faraskhana Police quickly arrested both accused and registered a case.Concerns over growing lawlessness have now been reignited.
What’s alarming is that such incidents are happening repeatedly. Even after the previous firing incident in Bibwewadi—where the accused were punished—similar cases continue to occur, proving that there is no real fear of the law among certain citizens. Easy access to illegal firearms and rising street-level violence now pose serious questions about public safety.
Authorities and residents alike are demanding stricter patrolling, harsher enforcement, and fast-tracked legal action to restore deterrence.
