Pune | June 04,2025: In a significant breakthrough, the Wagholi police have dismantled a gang involved in multiple jewellery snatching incidents across Pune and Nashik. Acting on a tip-off, five suspects were arrested, and stolen valuables including gold jewellery, a mobile phone, and a two-wheeler — all worth nearly ₹1.89 lakh — were recovered.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Kunal Vishwanath Sable (21), Prashant Santvijay Yadav (19), Tajim Sallauddin Ansari (20), Sanjog Santosh Bhangre (18), and Manoj Uday Patil (31) — all residents of various localities in Nashik’s CIDCO, Satpur, and Shivajinagar areas.
The investigation began following a case of chain-snatching reported by a woman in Wagholi. Based on technical surveillance and intelligence gathered by constables Sainath Rokade and Deepak Kokare, police laid a trap and first arrested Yadav and Sable. Their interrogation revealed their involvement in similar crimes in Vimannagar, Koregaon Park, Daund, and Nashik.
Further leads helped police nab the remaining three accused — Ansari, Bhangre, and Patil. The stolen jewellery was reportedly hidden with accomplices back in Nashik.
Under the guidance of Additional Commissioner Manoj Patil, and supervision from Deputy Commissioner Himmat Jadhav, Assistant Commissioner Pranjali Sonawane, and Senior Inspector Yuvraj Hande, the operation was executed by Sub-Inspector Manoj Bagal and Constable Babasaheb Morale, among others.
The police continue to investigate whether the gang is linked to more unsolved snatching cases in the region.
