Sanjay Raut raised concerns over a cyberattack in the Ahmedabad Air India crash that killed 265. He questioned aviation safety, airport control, and called for a deeper multi-agency investigation.
Ahmedabad | June 14, 2025: Tragedy struck on Thursday afternoon as an Air India Dreamliner crashed near Ahmedabad, killing all 265 passengers, crew, and several locals on the ground. The disaster has once again brought the issue of aviation safety under intense scrutiny.
In a press conference held Friday morning, Member of Parliament Sanjay Raut raised alarming concerns that have sparked national debate. Without making direct accusations, Raut questioned whether a cyberattack could have led to the simultaneous failure of both engines, suggesting a deeper investigation might reveal an act of sabotage.
“What caused two powerful engines to fail within 30 seconds? Was the aircraft system hacked? These are questions that need serious attention,” said Raut, while emphasizing that he doesn’t wish to jump to conclusions before the investigation is complete.
He noted that multiple teams—including experts from Britain, Portugal, and Boeing’s U.S. headquarters—have joined Indian agencies in probing the crash. Raut reminded that questions about the Dreamliner’s engine reliability were raised even at the time of their procurement during the UPA regime. The aircraft deal had come under political fire, and now, this incident has revived those doubts.
Raut further hinted at security lapses, subtly criticizing the current management of Ahmedabad Airport—without naming the Adani Group directly. “The manpower is reduced to half. Who is truly responsible for the safety and maintenance of our aircraft and airports?” he asked.
Drawing parallels to past attacks, Raut stopped short of calling it a terror plot like the Pahalgam incident, but warned that cyber warfare from hostile nations targeting military and aviation infrastructure was a growing threat.
He concluded with a chilling concern: “If these questions remain unanswered, the public’s trust in air travel may be seriously shaken.”
