A young man and woman in Solapur died by suicide using the same rope. Their note claimed a brother-sister bond, dismissing suspicions. Police are investigating the mystery surrounding their deaths
A deeply disturbing incident has shaken Karnik Nagar in Solapur, where a 23-year-old man and a woman died by suicide by hanging themselves with the same rope. The tragic incident has left the local community in shock, while a mysterious suicide note has further intensified questions surrounding their deaths.
The deceased have been identified as Rohit Thankedar, who worked as a driver, and Ashwini Keshapure, a B. Pharmacy graduate. What has confounded investigators is the note they left behind, in which they declared themselves as “brother and sister” and urged not to suspect their relationship.
“We are brother and sister, don’t doubt us unnecessarily. Our parents are not responsible for our suicide,” the note reportedly read.
The two had reportedly posted a social media status the day before their deaths, reiterating their brother-sister bond, which makes the incident even more puzzling. Initial speculation of a possible romantic relationship was quickly challenged by this message, leaving their real reasons still unclear.
The double suicide occurred in a private residence, and both were found hanging from the same rope made of cloth. The sight deeply shocked the families, who mourned their loss at Solapur Civil Hospital.
The Civil Police Station has registered a case, and officials have begun a detailed investigation to determine the cause and circumstances behind the suicide. Police are examining personal and digital communications, and speaking with family and friends to understand the mental state of both individuals.
As of now, no foul play has been officially confirmed, but the unusual suicide note and joint act have raised several unanswered questions. Police say all angles are being explored in the ongoing probe.
