Solapur | July 9, 2025: In a major move to tighten law and order, the Solapur City Police has decided to crack down on individuals roaming the streets at night without valid reason. Police Commissioner M. Rajkumar has issued strict instructions that such individuals will face immediate and strong action during nightly patrols.
In recent years, night outs and late-night drives among the youth have become increasingly popular as people seek escape from daytime noise and traffic. However, this growing trend has been paralleled by a rise in nighttime crime, prompting the police to act decisively.
To implement this, the Police Commissioner, Deputy Commissioner, and local officers (Thanedars) will now carry out two-hour foot patrols across different areas of the city. This initiative is part of a larger campaign to curb illegal activities, prevent crime, and monitor suspicious movements during nighttime hours.
The announcement comes after a spike in night crimes, with criminals taking advantage of the darkness. There are also concerns about unlicensed parties, underage gatherings, and illicit businesses flourishing during the late hours.
Youth and partygoers who frequently roam the city at night are especially likely to be affected by this decision. Police have appealed to citizens to cooperate and avoid unnecessary movement after dark unless there is a legitimate reason or emergency.
This drive is expected to enhance public safety and restore confidence among residents regarding night security in Solapur.
