Priyanka Jadhav from Satara cracked the MPSC exam to become a Revenue Assistant, using tech, family support, and hard work to overcome all odds and inspire many.
Satara | July 22, 2025: If you have the will to rise, no obstacle can pull you down — and Priyanka Jadhav from Satara is living proof of that. Born 100% visually impaired, Priyanka has overcome immense challenges to secure a position as a Revenue Assistant through the Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC), inspiring countless others with her journey from darkness to determination.
Hailing from Shenoli village in Karad Taluka, Priyanka lost her vision entirely by the age of 13 despite extensive medical attempts to control it. “When she was born, our world lit up. But by the time she was in school, we began noticing her eyesight worsening. Eventually, she went completely blind,” recalls her father, Avinash Jadhav. Yet, her spirit remained unshaken.
Settled in Pune due to her father’s job, Priyanka pursued her early education at Prerna High School and Lokmanya Tilak Vidyalaya in Thergaon. Her mother Sujata played a pivotal role — from reading out textbooks to helping with assignments. With the help of assistant scribes, she completed her exams and consistently topped her classes.
After excelling in Class 12, she pursued a degree in Economics at SNDT Women’s University, Pune. It was during her final year that she learned about reserved government positions for the visually impaired — a turning point that led her to begin rigorous MPSC preparations.
For the first time in her life, Priyanka moved out from her family home to stay in an academy. It was a leap of faith — for someone completely blind — but she had courage, trust in her friends, and a deep focus on her goal. With support from close friends like Sarita and Abhijit Nikam, she settled into hostel life and built a routine around her study needs.
Faced with limited access to braille books or accessible study material, she relied heavily on technology. YouTube, mobile apps, and audio lectures became her go-to tools for revision. With the help of friends who read and discussed topics with her, she mastered the vast syllabus of competitive exams.
Priyanka has now appeared for four government service exams, including a recent Tax Assistant exam. Her current success as a Revenue Assistant has not only made her family and village proud but has also inspired an entire generation of disabled aspirants who face similar hurdles.
Her story stands tall — a blend of discipline, support, focus, and the unwavering belief that disability can never define one’s destiny.
