During his Pune visit, Deputy CM Ajit Pawar strongly criticized traffic mismanagement in Chakan MIDC. He directed immediate action, expressing displeasure over officers halting vehicles and worsening the city’s congestion.
Pune, August 8, 2025 — Traffic congestion across Pune city, especially in Hinjewadi and Chakan MIDC zones, continues to frustrate commuters and officegoers alike. Acknowledging the rising discontent, Deputy Chief Minister and Guardian Minister of Pune, Ajit Pawar, took a firm stand today during his early morning visit to the city.
Pawar began his review tour at Bharat Mata Chowk in Pimpri-Chinchwad around 5:30 AM, where he encountered heavy traffic even at that early hour. Expressing visible frustration, he pulled up concerned officers and criticized the traffic mismanagement on-site. His displeasure particularly centered around vehicles being arbitrarily halted near Chakan Chowk, causing further congestion.
In a sharp exchange with Pune Police Commissioner Vinay Kumar Choubey, Pawar questioned the decision to stop traffic unnecessarily, reportedly saying, “Oh Choubey, this is not right. Why have you stopped these vehicles like fools and created a traffic jam? Start all the traffic properly.”
Officials on the ground appeared visibly tense as Pawar, known for his no-nonsense approach, demanded immediate and effective traffic regulation. The Deputy CM’s visit was primarily to assess infrastructural issues in the Chakan MIDC area, but the state of traffic appeared to overshadow the agenda.
Pawar’s strong reaction is now being viewed as a wake-up call for the traffic authorities and urban planning departments of Pune to implement long-term solutions to ease the city’s growing vehicular burden.
