Badlapur | July 27, 2025: Barvi Dam in Badlapur is nearing its overflow mark amid continued heavy rains. MIDC has issued an urgent safety alert to villages along the Barvi river and notified tehsildars of Kalyan, Ambernath, Ulhasnagar, and Murbad.

As of Friday afternoon, the dam’s water level had reached 70.60 meters, just two meters below its overflow point of 72.60 meters. Once the overflow level is reached, the dam’s automatic gates open due to water pressure, leading to discharge into the river.

Villages including Chandap, Chandapada, Pimpaloli, Sagaon, Patilpada, Padirpada, Karand, Chon Moryacha Pada, and Rahatoli have been advised to remain on high alert and take necessary precautions. Additional warnings have been sent to other settlements near the Barvi and Ulhas rivers, as continuous rainfall could cause sudden flooding.

MIDC’s precautionary steps aim to safeguard residents in vulnerable zones from potential water release due to dam overflow.
