Pune | May 23, 2025: Beed district witnessed a series of shocking incidents, raising concerns over law and order, local governance, and safety. Three major incidents unfolded, causing public outrage and viral social media responses.
1. Windmill Guard Opens Fire, One Dead
In Mahajanwadi, Limbaganesh (Nekanur Police Station limits), a security guard at a private windmill opened fire late Thursday night on suspected thieves. The group had entered the premises around midnight to steal materials. The guard warned them, then opened fire, causing them to flee. One body was recovered from the scene. The identity of the deceased is yet to be confirmed. The Nekanur Police have started an investigation.
2. Divyang Gram Sevak Assaulted in Chikhli
In a separate incident in Asola Bk village, Divyang (disabled) Gram Sevak Santosh Savadatkar was assaulted by Jafar Kha Amad Kha while surveying under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. The attacker allegedly knocked down his bike, abused him, grabbed his collar, and threw him in the street. A video of the incident went viral. The assault is believed to be linked to an earlier investigation by Savadatkar into complaints of dirty water. A case has been registered at Andhera Police Station under IPC sections 132, 115(2), and 351.
3. Gram Panchayat Bribery Video Surfaces
In Nalwadi Gram Panchayat, a video surfaced showing Gram Sevak Shakeel Sayyed allegedly demanding money from villagers seeking agricultural assistance. In the video, the officer is heard saying, “Borrow the money, but give it to us.” Despite government funding availability, officials are accused of demanding bribes, indicating corruption and lack of transparency in panchayat operations. Villagers recorded and shared the video, which is now viral.
Each incident has stirred strong public reaction, with protests from the Gram Sevak Sanghatana and demands for action against the accused officials and criminals.
