Joy turns into grief in Somandepalli as newlywed Harshita ends her life hours after her wedding; police probe ongoing as family remains in deep shock.
Sri Sathya Sai District | August 7, 2025: A heart-wrenching incident has shaken the town of Somandepalli in Andhra Pradesh’s Sri Sathya Sai district. A newlywed bride named Harshita died by suicide on the very night of her wedding, leaving her family and the community devastated.
According to information received, Harshita, the only daughter in her family, got married to Nagendra, a resident of Bagepalli in Karnataka, on August 4. The marriage was celebrated with grandeur and joy, with rituals conducted at both the bride’s and groom’s homes. The celebration had barely settled when tragedy struck.
On the wedding night, while everyone was engaged in post-ceremony arrangements, Nagendra had stepped out briefly to buy sweets. Harshita, alone in the room, was not seen for a long time. Family members became suspicious when she failed to respond to repeated calls. Upon breaking open the door, they discovered her hanging from the ceiling fan.
Panic and disbelief gripped the household as she was rushed to a nearby government hospital. However, doctors declared her brought dead. The joyous wedding venue turned into a scene of mourning within hours.
Police have initiated an investigation to determine the reasons behind Harshita’s drastic step. The cause of her suicide remains unclear. Meanwhile, the bereaved families are in shock, trying to come to terms with the unimaginable loss.
