Pune May 09, 2025: The Union government has approved the inclusion of life and actions of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj to the national school syllabus in a major step towards establishing national consciousness and cultural pride. The action will guarantee that kids all throughout the nation would be aware of the wonderful legacy of the visionary Maratha monarch and the founder of Hindavi Swarajya.
Following a high-level conference in New Delhi with Maharashtra’s School Education Minister Dada Bhuse, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhen approved the action.
Pradhan acted quickly to inform authorities to initiate the procedure for incorporating relevant chapters into the Central Textbook Research and Training Council (NCERT) published textbooks.Present at the conference were Maharashtra and Centre’s top brass such as Education Secretary Sanjay Kumar, Additional Secretaries Anil Kumar Singhal and Anand Patil, State Principal Secretary Ranjit Singh Deol, Education Commissioner Sachindra Pratap Singh, and State Training Council Director Rahul Rekhawar.
Along with this significant turning point, Bhuse advocated further Marathi language inclusion into national education. Agreeing, the Union Minister promised efforts towards language protection and promotion by curriculum revision.
This is one step towards a fair representation in education, not only a symbolic action. The curriculum will show a wider range of nationalistic and more mixed narrative by including students from all around the nation into Shivaji Maharaj’s strategic genius, inclusive leadership, and resistance against tyranny. It also emphasises the need of regional stories in forming India’s shared identity in fashion. Such inclusive educational strategies can become really crucial in the future to guarantee mutual respect and national integration.
