Satara LCB busted a gang involved in chain-snatching and burglaries, seizing ₹52 lakh gold. Two goldsmiths were also arrested. The gang confessed to 23 crimes across multiple police jurisdictions.
Satara | July 30, 2025: A notorious gang involved in a series of gold chain snatchings, burglaries, and robberies across Satara has finally been busted by the Local Crime Branch (LCB). The police have seized half a kilogram of gold worth ₹52 lakh and arrested two key members of the gang, including two goldsmiths who were buying the stolen ornaments, shaking up the local jeweller community.
According to officials, the gang had been creating fear across the district. Acting on a tip-off, LCB tracked Sachin Santriya Bhosale and Nadeem Dharmendra Kale, who were found moving in and out of the area. The police used disguises and surveillance tactics to trace their movements. On July 7, Bhosale was caught after a high-speed chase on his motorcycle.
Those arrested include: Sachin Santriya Bhosale (Phadtarwadi, Satara),Nadeem Dharmendra Kale (Tujarpur, Walwa, Sangli),Ashish Chandulal Gandhi, goldsmith (Rahimatpur, Koregaon),Santosh Jagannath Ghadge, goldsmith (Degaon, Satara)
Upon interrogation, the gang confessed to 23 different crimes — including 1 robbery, 8 chain-snatching incidents, 3 forced thefts, 8 house burglaries, and 3 other thefts across various police jurisdictions like Masoor, Umbraj, Phaltan, Malharpeth, Karad, Pusegaon, Lonand, and Khandala.
Despite resistance from certain local jeweller committee members who allegedly tried to mislead and pressurize witnesses, the police persisted. They recovered 52 tolas of gold, a two-wheeler worth ₹50,000, and a weapon used in the crimes.
The successful operation was conducted under the leadership of SP Tushar Doshi, Addl SP Dr. Vaishali Kadukar, and PI Rohit Phan.
