A child in Champaran bit a snake thinking it was a toy; the snake died instantly, while the child remained unharmed. Experts believe the snake was non-venomous or killed before it could bite.
Champaran |July 27,2025: A bizarre and shocking incident unfolded in Mohachhi Bankatwa village of Bihar’s Champaran district, where a one-and-a-half-year-old child bit a snake—mistaking it for a toy—causing the snake’s instant death.
The child, named Govinda, was playing at home when he saw the snake. Thinking it was a harmless toy, he caught it and bit it. Surprisingly, the snake died on the spot, while the child remained unharmed and felt no pain or symptoms.
The event has puzzled locals, but wildlife experts suggest logical explanations. Abhishek, Project Manager at the Nature Environment and Welfare Society (NEWS), stated that either the snake was non-venomous or the child bit it fatally before it could inject venom.
Experts say if a snake’s spine is damaged, especially near its head, it can die instantly. In this case, the child’s bite may have fatally injured the snake, preventing it from launching an attack or injecting venom.
The incident has gone viral on social media, drawing reactions ranging from shock to disbelief.
