CM Devendra Fadnavis, on his birthday visit to Gadchiroli, launched ₹24,000 crore steel and industrial projects, transforming the Naxal-hit region into an emerging industrial hub with employment and development.
Gadchiroli | July 22, 2025: Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis marked his birthday today with a transformative visit to Gadchiroli, underlining his commitment to the region’s development. Just as he had spent New Year’s Day in Gadchiroli, Fadnavis dedicated his special day to launching several ambitious projects that are set to redefine the district’s future.
The most notable among them is the foundation stone laying of a 4.5 MTPA steel plant, the first of its kind in Vidarbha, with an investment of ₹24,000 crore. This massive project is expected to generate over 10,000 direct and indirect jobs, signalling a major industrial push for Gadchiroli — a region previously known for Naxal activity.
In addition, the Chief Minister inaugurated the Headri to Konsari slurry pipeline, a crucial infrastructure for mineral transport, and launched Maharashtra’s first Iron Ore and Grinding Unit at Headri, setting a benchmark for mineral processing in the state.
The day also witnessed the inauguration of the largest pallet plant in India of a single design at Konsari, marking a significant milestone in Maharashtra’s industrial journey.
On the social development front, the Chief Minister laid the foundation stone for a 100-bed hospital and a modern CBSE school at Konsari, as well as for Lloyd’s Township at Sonampalli, aiming to enhance health, education, and housing infrastructure in the region.
Later in the day, he participated in the ‘Green Maharashtra – Prosperous Maharashtra’ tree plantation drive, emphasizing the state’s commitment to sustainable development and environmental protection.
Fadnavis’ visit is being hailed as a turning point in the identity of Gadchiroli, shifting it from a conflict-prone region to a hub of industry, growth, and opportunity, driven by large-scale investment and employment generation.
