Pune | 07 June,2025: On a recent visit to Gadchiroli, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis carried out a thorough review of pre-monsoon preparedness at the District Planning Bhavan, with a focus on taking proactive steps in preventing flood dangers in the area. He instructed officials to ensure coordination between district and state-level departments in order to deal with possible flooding, especially from water inflow from Madhya Pradesh, and keeping a watchful eye to prevent any threats.
Fadnavis had strongly condemned the Forest Department’s move at a District Planning Committee meeting, attacking their choice to hinder a vital road project. The subject involved a kilometer-long section of the Aheri-Sironcha National Highway 353D, from Tamandala Phata to Amdeli, that was built but eventually excavated by forest staff under the grounds of disobedience of forest legislations. The Chief Minister also strictly directed the officials to give more importance to road development, sort things out via proper communication, and keep unnecessary obstacles at bay.
He also emphasized the necessity of improved coordination between the Forest Department, Public Works Department, National Highways Authority, and other concerned agencies to facilitate smooth road construction in forest lands. Fadnavis emphasized that, other than on tiger corridor routes, the Forest Department should not create hindrances. He cautioned against high-handedness, stressing a people-oriented approach and assuring that any high-handedness on the part of forest officers would be given hard disciplinary punishment. This twin emphasis on disaster preparedness and infrastructure development reveals the state’s seriousness in meeting both environmental and connectivity challenges in Gadchiroli.
