Internal conflict erupts in Congress during the monsoon session as MLAs accuse leaders of exclusion. A meeting led by Vijay Wadettiwar aims to resolve tensions amid growing dissatisfaction within the party.
Mumbai, 09 July 2025 : As the monsoon session of the Maharashtra legislature continues, a wave of discontent is brewing within the Congress party. While the Mahavikas Aghadi alliance is striving to project a united front against the ruling coalition, internal cracks within Congress have come to the surface, revealing serious communication gaps and dissatisfaction among its MLAs.
Several Congress legislators are reportedly upset that they are being sidelined during key legislative discussions. They claim that leader of the legislature group Vijay Wadettiwar and senior leader Nana Patole are not allowing them to speak in the House or participate meaningfully in party deliberations. This dissatisfaction has now spilled from Delhi meetings to Vidhan Bhavan, with murmurs of a deepening rift within the state unit.

A few weeks ago, disgruntled voices within the party had reached the Congress high command in Delhi, where State President Harshvardhan Sapkal and Mumbai Congress President Varsha Gaikwad were also criticized for poor leadership and exclusionary decision-making.
In response to the present turmoil, Vijay Wadettiwar has defended the party’s functioning, claiming that Congress always provides space to both senior and newly elected MLAs. He alleged that those levelling such accusations were simply not present during key moments of legislative activity.
Meanwhile, the Congress state president has attempted to downplay the internal tensions, issuing a broad statement and indirectly blaming the Assembly Speaker for the limited speaking opportunities afforded to Congress MLAs.
A crucial meeting called by Vijay Wadettiwar is scheduled for tomorrow to address these grievances. The outcome of this meeting will be closely watched as it could determine whether the party can restore internal harmony during a politically critical time.
