New Delhi | June 11, 2025: A major fire broke out this morning on the ninth floor of a high-rise residential building in Dwarka, Delhi, leading to a tragic loss of lives. In a desperate attempt to escape the flames, a man and his two children jumped from the ninth floor and later succumbed to their injuries.
The deceased have been identified as 35-year-old Yash Yadav, his 18-year-old son Aditya, and 12-year-old daughter Asima. All three were rushed to IGI Hospital in critical condition, where they were declared dead during treatment. Yadav was a flex board businessman and lived in the building with his wife and two children. His wife and elder son managed to escape the fire and are currently under medical observation.
The incident occurred around 10 am near MRV School in Dwarka. According to reports, thick smoke and intense flames engulfed the upper floors of the building, prompting many residents to panic. Eight fire tenders were immediately dispatched and began rescue operations. The fire-fighting and rescue efforts are still underway.
All residents have been safely evacuated from the premises. Authorities have cut off electricity and PNG gas supply to prevent further hazards. The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) and the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) have been notified to inspect the structural stability of the building.
This tragic fire has once again highlighted the lack of proper fire safety measures in high-rise residential societies. Urgent steps are now being demanded to audit and strengthen fire preparedness in such buildings to prevent future tragedies.
