Pune | June 03, 2025: Maharashtra Police have arrested dismissed sub-inspector Ranjit Kasle from Delhi, according to officials. Kasle, who was formerly posted in Beed district, had alleged he was offered a contract to kill Valmiki Karad—the key accused in the murder of Sarpanch Santosh Deshmukh.
The Mumbai Police Crime Branch detained Kasle for allegedly spreading communal hatred, defaming government officials, and sharing objectionable content on social media. A case was filed last month following a complaint by a social worker in Bhandup, eastern Mumbai. Kasle faces charges under the Information Technology Act for publishing false information, defamation, and insulting the dignity of a woman, alongside violations of the Indian Penal Code. His recent Instagram posts included offensive remarks against an OBC leader. Fresh cases against him are registered in Beed and Mumbai.

Kasle had preliminarily indicted former Maharashtra Cabinet minister Dhananjay Munde and Valmiki Karad of conspiring to exclude Karad in a offered hassle. He was dismissed by the Inspector General of Police of the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Range in April. Karad remains the primary suspect in the December 9 murder of Masajog village’s sarpanch, Santosh Deshmukh.
