
Drainage Issues Spark Flood enterprises Pune Authorities Work on Immediate Cleanup Plans
Pune’s ongoing drainage issues are submerging domestic areas. The Pune Municipal Corporation and Defence officers have agreed to prioritize drawing rainspouts and produce results to help future waterlogging and business disruptions.
Pune, April 28, 2025: The ongoing problem of congested and neglected rainspouts in pivotal Defence and Central Government institutions in Pune is creating obliteration in near domestic areas, causing flooding and torture to thousands of citizens. These drainage issues have been exacerbated by the diversion of water, leading to serious waterlogging in domestic areas.
The situation, which affected areas like Vishrantwadi, Dhanori, Yerawada, and Baner last time, led to significant damage to several societies when the blocked rainspouts caused water to slip into homes. In light of this, the Pune Municipal Corporation( PMC) has held an critical meeting with officers from the Defence Department and other concerned institutions. They have come to an agreement to prioritize drawing the rainspouts in these critical zones this time.
The rainspouts in areas like’ Boigo’,’ NCL’,’ GREF’,’ Aisar’ under the Defence Ministry have long been neglected, creating an overflow of water during the rainstorm season. Last time’s flooding due to this issue left multitudinous societies submerged, with damage to property and roads.
In Yerawada, the drain blockage at’ BEG’ has caused severe water overflow into Dr. Ambedkar Society. A kennel erected near Alandi Road was supposed to control the flux, but due to the blockage, water continues to submerge near homes. The authorities have decided to fix and expand the drain in the’ BEG’ area to help further damage.
Another problem lies in the’ Aisar’ area, where rainwater flows directly onto the main road of Chaner, causing severe business logjams. The lack of space in this area has made water operation delicate, but plans are now underway to find a better result to handle the rainwater.
Also, the drain from’ NCL’ academe in Pashan to Baner Satya had previously been blocked due to security enterprises. Still, authorization has now been granted by’ NCL’ for cleaning, and chambers will be constructed to ensure smooth water flux.
Ultimately, heavy rainwater runoff from Charholi in the mountains is discovering into Laxmi Nagar Society in Dhanori, carrying monuments and debris that are dismembering business. To help further disturbance, officers plan to redirect the rainwater back to the mountain area by digging grooves. Exchanges with the Army’ s’ GIF’ were held to address these enterprises as well.
