India’s first Railway PR Seminar was held in Kota, with Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla assuring support for cadre issues. The event highlighted PR’s vital role and initiated restructuring discussions.

Kota | August 6, 2025: The Indian Railways marked a historic moment on August 2, 2025, as the first All India Railway Public Relations Seminar was successfully organized at the Menal Railway Officers Club in Kota. The landmark event was hosted by the Public Relations Department and saw the august presence of Hon’ble Lok Sabha Speaker Shri Om Birla as the Chief Guest.

Shri Birla lauded the pivotal role of the PR cadre, calling them “a bridge of trust between the government and the people.” He further assured that “the issues and challenges faced by the PR Cadre will be taken up with the Railway Minister.”

The seminar opened with a traditional welcome and lamp-lighting ceremony in the presence of DRM Kota Shri Anil Kalra, who emphasized the department’s indispensable contributions. A video presentation highlighted the multi-layered role of railway PR personnel, followed by a comprehensive presentation by Senior PRO Shri Kamal Joshi outlining existing practices, responsibilities, and cadre challenges.

An engaging seminar session followed, where Senior PROs, PROs, and Publicity Inspectors from across India shared ground-level experiences and suggestions, laying the groundwork for future cadre restructuring and policy improvement.

The seminar also saw the participation of key railway officials including ADRM Shri Lalit Kumar Dhurandhar, Sr. DCM Shri Saurabh Jain, DCM Shri Kishore Patel, opposition leader Shri Love Sharma, media representatives, and union leaders.

Organized under the banner of the Bhartiya Railway Jansampark Karmi Kalyan Samiti, the seminar stood as a testament to unity, professionalism, and the department’s commitment to evolving with the changing communication landscape of the Railways.
