Under the Pandharpur Pilgrimage Plan, 213 sanitation workers will receive 600 sq. ft. flats. Deputy CM Ajit Pawar confirmed ₹55.61 crore funding and promised swift action to resolve housing delays.

Pandharpur | 17 July, 2025: As part of the ongoing Pandharpur Pilgrimage Development Plan, the Maharashtra government has proposed a dedicated housing project for 213 sanitation workers in Pandharpur city. Each worker will be allotted a 600-square-foot flat, with an estimated total cost of ₹55.61 crore, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar announced in the Legislative Assembly.

Pawar was responding to a suggestion raised by Assembly Member Hemant Rasane, and mentioned that several public representatives, including Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, had also supported the idea.

The housing project will consist of 13 buildings — 12 of which will be four-storeyed and one five-storeyed — collectively offering 213 residential units. Additionally, 24 commercial shops will be developed in seven of the roadside buildings, providing further utility and opportunities for the beneficiaries.

To ensure swift implementation, Deputy CM Pawar confirmed that discussions with local representatives and the Solapur District Collector would be held the same day. He assured the Assembly that the long-pending housing concerns of sanitation workers will be resolved without delay and that funding will not be an issue.

The initiative aims to offer permanent housing to sanitation workers who play a critical role in maintaining cleanliness in the temple town, especially during the annual pilgrimage. It is a significant step toward improving their living standards and acknowledging their contribution.
