A rural Zilla Parishad school in Jalindarnagar, Khed, led by Dattatray Vare, has ranked among the world’s top 10 schools for innovation and learning, transforming lives through global education.

Pune | July 09, 2025: In an extraordinary achievement that is inspiring educators and communities across the nation, a Zilla Parishad Primary School from Jalindarnagar in Khed taluka, Pune district, has been ranked among the top 10 schools in the world. The recognition comes from the prestigious World’s Best School Awards organized by global education platform T4 Education.
What makes this feat even more remarkable is the school’s humble origin — not located in a city, or even a large village, but in a small rural settlement. Today, however, this school has carved a place for itself on the global education map — thanks to the vision and tireless efforts of one teacher: Dattatray Vare Guruji.
After joining the school in 2022, Vare transformed the institution into a hub of creativity, innovation, and holistic learning. Previously known for setting up the award-winning Zero Energy School in Wablewadi (Shirur taluka), he brought the same level of excellence and passion to Jalindarnagar. His efforts have turned the once-overlooked school into a global model of education through community involvement and student empowerment.
The school has been recognized in two categories — development through public participation and student intelligence. Under Vare’s guidance, students here are trained in 22 diverse life skills and are taught multiple Indian and foreign languages, including German, Japanese, Nepali, and English. These young learners don’t just memorize — they read, write, and converse in these languages confidently.
This remarkable progress has also won the hearts of villagers, who have credited Vare Guruji for putting Jalindarnagar on the world map. Students are now dreaming bigger than ever. “We are proud to learn so many languages,” said one student. “Guruji has changed our lives.”
The school is also set to receive a Rs 1 crore prize through a global online voting process. This marks the first time a government school from India has entered and been shortlisted in this prestigious competition — a matter of immense pride not just for the village, but for Maharashtra and the country at large.
