After a glass piece was found in a bun maska, a cockroach has now surfaced in an egg roll at Goodluck Cafe’s highway outlet, reigniting hygiene concerns and prompting expected FDA action.
Pune | July 23, 2025: The popular Goodluck Cafe, already under scrutiny for food safety, is once again in the spotlight—this time after a cockroach was found in an egg roll served at its outlet in the Food Plaza on the Mumbai-Pune highway. This alarming discovery comes just days after a glass piece was found in a bun maska at the café’s original outlet on Ferguson Road in Pune.
The previous glass contamination incident had led the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to temporarily revoke the license of the Ferguson Road branch. The FDA had instructed the management to correct hygiene-related lapses before reopening. Consequently, the main outlet remains shut as of now.
However, before it could even resume operations, the cafe brand has been hit by another hygiene controversy, sparking fresh concerns among customers and food lovers. The fact that two separate branches under the same brand name have reported serious health hazards within a short time frame has raised significant questions about Goodluck Cafe’s overall hygiene practices.
Food safety officials are now expected to take serious note of the latest incident. Authorities are likely to initiate another investigation and possibly extend their scrutiny to all other branches operating under the Goodluck Cafe name.
The recurring lapses have not only dented the cafe’s reputation but have also left consumers deeply concerned about food quality and safety standards at otherwise popular dining spots.
