State government withdraws Hindi mandate after unity between Raj and Uddhav Thackeray shows Marathi power. July 5 protest turns into victory rally. Raut slams Fadnavis for misinformation, demands Mashelkar report disclosure.

Mumbai, June 30, 2025:  In a dramatic turn of events, the Maharashtra state government has withdrawn its controversial decision to make Hindi mandatory, following strong opposition from regional parties and a symbolic show of unity between Raj Thackeray and Uddhav Thackeray.

Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) MP Sanjay Raut claimed that the withdrawal is a direct result of the growing Marathi solidarity, sparked by the two Thackeray leaders coming together for the larger interest of Maharashtra. “When these two brothers unite, it sends tremors through the state in the form of Marathi strength,” Raut stated.

Initially, a protest march was planned for July 5, led by MNS and Shiv Sena (UBT), to oppose the ordinance. However, following the rollback, Raut announced that the march will now be transformed into a “victory rally” celebrating the success of this public pressure. “All those who came together for the cause will be invited to join in,” he said, adding, “We will leave no one behind.”

Raut also emphasized that this rollback is only the first win in a larger campaign, hinting at future collaborations for the Mumbai Municipal Corporation elections and other local bodies. “We aim to regain power in Mumbai and across Maharashtra,” he declared.

Responding to Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis—who claimed that the decision to make Hindi mandatory had roots in Uddhav Thackeray’s own tenure—Raut hit back strongly. “BJP is a factory of lies. Fadnavis is spreading misinformation just like Modi and Amit Shah do. If you have the Mashelkar report, make it public,” he challenged.
