Pune | 07 June,2025: In a shocking case that shook Kolhapur district, a man named Sachin Rajput, hailing from Solapur, was accused of killing his wife, Shubhangi Rajput, in a violent attack at Sadale Madale Ghat. The crime, which took place at around 11:30 AM on Friday morning, was the result of constant arguments over Sachin’s extramarital affair. Sachin then surrendered at the Solapur police station after having committed the crime, leading to a large-scale investigation and leaving the community in shock.
Sachin, who is a Solapur supervisor, had been involved in his wife Shubhangi, a Nilji village woman from Gadhinglaj taluka, in marital strife over his extramarital affair with another woman in Solapur. Hearing about the affair, Shubhangi had shifted to her parents’ residence at Nilji and resided there for the last one-and-a-half years. It was six weeks back that Sachin came to Nilji to make up and the couple along with their four-year-old son shifted to a rented accommodation in Raman Nagar, Shiye Phata, close to Shiroli MIDC.
On Thursday night, the couple went to Jotiba Hill for a temple darshan. While they were coming back, they halted at a place in Sadale Madale Ghat under Kasarwadi village boundary, where a heated quarrel is said to have escalated. In a rage, Sachin is said to have stabbed Shubhangi to death with a knife and then escaped. Sachin then surrendered himself at the Solapur police station, where officials have initiated a thorough investigation to reveal more information of the tragic event.
