IMD issues rain alert for Mumbai, Thane, and Palghar; Pune on yellow alert. Citizens advised to remain cautious amid active monsoon, possible lightning, and ongoing waterlogging in low-lying areas.
Pune | 25 July, 2025: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a rain alert at 7:20 am today, Friday, July 25, 2025, warning of moderate rainfall over the next 3–4 hours in Mumbai, Thane, and Palghar districts. A yellow alert has also been issued for Pune district, forecasting light to moderate rain during the same period.
This “nowcast” alert serves as an immediate weather forecast aimed at informing citizens about potential sudden weather changes. With the monsoon actively lashing Maharashtra, several regions—especially Mumbai and its suburbs—have experienced persistent rain and waterlogging in low-lying areas over the past few days.
The IMD has urged residents to take extra precautions while commuting, especially with the possibility of rain accompanied by lightning. Citizens have been advised to stay away from trees, unstable structures, and open areas during the rainfall. Those heading to work or traveling are particularly encouraged to stay alert and plan accordingly.
The alert is part of the IMD’s efforts to keep people informed in real time and reduce weather-related risks.
