The Kondhanpur–Shivapur road remains incomplete due to unpaid bills, causing accidents during rains. A funding delay between PWD and the contractor stalls progress, leaving commuters to suffer risky travel daily.

Pune | June 03, 2025: The half-finished stretch of road between Shriramnagar and Shivapur Wada, part of the Kondhanpur Fata to Sinhgad route in Haveli tehsil, has become a growing concern for commuters. What was meant to improve connectivity under the Hybrid Annuity Project is now turning into a hazard—especially during the monsoon season.
Citizens had long demanded that this stretch be concretized, and the work had started with promise. 90% of the work stands completed after Two years. However, the final portion—just ten percent—remains unfinished, creating uneven surfaces and dangerous road conditions. Locals report frequent mishaps, particularly when rains make the incomplete patches slippery and unpredictable.
According to the contractor, the delay isn’t due to negligence but due to financial roadblocks. He claims that although the government had sanctioned the required funds last year, the amount wasn’t released in time and lapsed. As a result, pending payments have stalled the completion of the road.
This deadlock between the Public Works Department (PWD) and the contractor has left daily commuters stranded—caught between an unfinished promise and administrative delays. The contractor has assured that work will resume as soon as the government clears the bills.
