Mumbai, May 2, 2025: In a noteworthy recognition under Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis’s 100-Day Reforms Programme, the Jalgaon Police has emerged as one of the standout performers, securing a score of 65.71% in a state-level evaluation of police departments. The Quality Council of India (QCI) conducted this assessment across various districts, reviewing ten key parameters such as the use of artificial intelligence in investigations, digital service delivery, cleanliness, office efficiency, and overall citizen-centric reforms.
While Palghar, Gadchiroli, and Nagpur Rural Police topped the list, the transformation of the Jalgaon Police under Superintendent of Police Dr. Maheshwar Reddy has drawn widespread appreciation. Over the past year, the department has introduced a series of innovative and practical reforms that have improved not just internal functioning but also public interaction and accessibility.
Among the major initiatives, help desks were established at all police stations to assist citizens efficiently. The department also deployed QR code posters in high-footfall areas such as bus stands and schools, enabling people to file complaints easily through their mobile phones. A specially developed Criminal Dossier Web App has made it easier to track known offenders and repeat criminals, giving officers a smart edge in maintaining law and order. In another digital leap, the Jalgaon Police revamped its official website, integrating a chatbot feature to assist cybercrime victims and provide instant help.
Apart from tech-driven reforms, attention was also paid to improving infrastructure and public perception. Police stations underwent a major cleanliness drive, with beautification of compounds and the systematic disposal of outdated documents, abandoned vehicles, and other dead stock.
Though it hasn’t broken into the top three rankings yet, Jalgaon’s police force is being hailed as a promising model of responsive, citizen-first policing. The district’s swift turnaround reflects how data-driven strategies, combined with committed leadership, can bring meaningful change to law enforcement at the grassroots level.
