Land Dispute Turns Violent in Parbhani: Man Allegedly Poisoned by Cousins in Gangakhed

In Parbhani’s Gangakhed area, a land dispute turned violent as a man was beaten and allegedly poisoned by his cousins. Six accused booked; police investigation into the attempted murder is ongoing.

Parbhani | July 15, 2025 – A shocking case of attempted murder over a land dispute has surfaced in Mankadevi village, under the jurisdiction of the Gangakhed police station in Parbhani district. A man was allegedly beaten and then forcibly given poison by his own cousins during a heated family feud.

The victim, identified as Gangadhar Devkate, is reported to have been attacked after questioning the delay in dividing agricultural land measuring 44 R. The incident occurred on Thursday, July 10, when Gangadhar’s mother confronted Vitthal Devkate about the unresolved land division. This confrontation triggered a violent altercation between the two families.

According to the complaint, the accused—Vitthal Devkate, Angad Devkate, Shivaji Devkate, Renuka Devkate, Kewal Devkate, and Kushavarta Devkate—not only abused and pushed Gangadhar’s mother but also beat her up. When Gangadhar went to their house seeking an explanation, he was allegedly assaulted with sticks. Shockingly, the accused then tried to poison him in an apparent attempt to kill.

Following the victim’s statement, a case has been registered at the Gangakhed police station against all six accused. The police have launched an investigation and are examining all aspects of the case, including medical reports and witness accounts.

Locals have expressed shock and concern over the escalation of a land dispute into such a violent episode, and there is growing demand for strict action to prevent similar incidents in rural Maharashtra.
