Heavy rains have caused the Mahalunge-Kushire road in Ambegaon to collapse. Villagers demand urgent repairs as mud and silt accumulation halts transport, risking isolation and endangering daily life.
Ambegaon | June 20 — The main road connecting Mahalunge to Kushire, situated in the remote tribal hilly belt of Ambegaon tehsil, has collapsed due to continuous torrential rains, cutting off vital access for villagers and halting transportation entirely.
The road caved in under the pressure of heavy downpour, and a thick layer of mud and silt has covered the stretch, making it extremely risky and nearly impossible to travel through. Residents have expressed strong concern and demanded immediate intervention.
Local voices, including social worker Pappu Thorat, former deputy Sarpanch Amol Date, Shivaji Dhadwad, Amol Ankush, and NCP youth leader Maruti Kengale, have jointly appealed to the Public Works Department (PWD) to urgently restore the road. They warned that the longer the delay, the worse the isolation of the village, especially in emergencies.
The road is not only the main link to the village but also a lifeline for daily needs, medical emergencies, and agricultural transport. Villagers are calling for swift deployment of machinery and manpower to clear the debris and rebuild the damaged stretch before further rains worsen the situation.
