Maharashtra government introduces tripartite agreements and crowd funding under CM Relief Fund to support costly treatments above ₹10 lakh, with a digital portal set to launch within three months.

Mumbai | July 22, 2025: In a significant move to support critically ill and financially weak patients, the Maharashtra government has introduced a new initiative under the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund, allowing patients access to costly medical treatments through a combination of tripartite agreements and crowd funding.

For the first time, the state will facilitate tripartite agreements between corporate companies (CSR contributors), donors, and hospitals. This structured collaboration aims to offer financial relief to thousands of patients, ensuring life-saving treatments are within reach, especially for those who cannot afford them.

Importantly, patients with treatment costs exceeding ₹10 lakh will now be eligible for crowd funding, especially in cases where existing government schemes and relief fund assistance still fall short. To streamline the process, a dedicated digital portal is being developed, allowing patients or their families to apply online for financial support. The portal is expected to go live within the next three months.

This step is being hailed as a game-changer in public healthcare, fostering synergy among CSR initiatives, social donors, and charitable hospitals. It not only ensures wider outreach of the CM Relief Fund but also introduces an organized, transparent method for crowd funding, reducing the burden on families scrambling for funds during emergencies.

With numerous patients in Maharashtra facing bills beyond ₹10 lakh, this decision will bridge critical financial gaps, making advanced treatments more accessible and reducing dependency on ad-hoc donations.
