Maharashtra plans to launch ‘Krishi Samruddhi Yojana’ with ₹25,000 crore investment over 5 years. A committee will assess its impact, inspired by the Pokra model, to modernize agriculture.
Mumbai | June 13, 2025:The state government is taking a significant step towards transforming Maharashtra’s agricultural landscape. The Agriculture Department has announced plans to roll out a new Krishi Samruddhi Yojana, modeled on the successful Nanaji Deshmukh Krishi Sanjeevani Project (Pokra).
To ensure the scheme’s effectiveness, a committee led by Pokra’s Project Director has been appointed. This panel includes senior officials such as the Agriculture Commissioner and heads of key agricultural departments. Their role will be to evaluate the expected outcomes, regional distribution, and overall impact of the scheme. They are expected to submit their report within 15 days.
The committee will also assess challenges in implementing various components of the new scheme and suggest how to scale training and support mechanisms for farmers at different levels. Importantly, the committee will finalize how many farmers from each district will benefit under the new plan.
Under this ambitious initiative, the Agriculture Department plans to inject ₹25,000 crore over the next five years to strengthen the farming sector. Key focus areas will include capital investment, modern mechanization, advanced technology adoption, and efficient water use, all aimed at boosting agricultural resilience against climate-related disasters.
This effort is expected to make farming more sustainable, economically viable, and better equipped to handle environmental uncertainties, giving farmers a much-needed boost.
