Pimpri-Chinchwad Cyber Police busted a nationwide loan app scam involving eight fake apps, over 10,000 victims, and extortion using private data. A key accused was arrested; citizens urged to stay alert.
Pimpri-Chinchwad | July 12, 2025: In a major breakthrough, the Pimpri-Chinchwad Cyber Crime Cell has arrested a key suspect from Mumbai involved in a large-scale online loan app fraud that exploited over 10,000 people across the country. The accused was operating a fake digital lending racket using eight fraudulent mobile applications under the banner of “Credit Pilot.”

The apps used in the scam included Credit Pilot, Creditkeeper, Inlonecredit, New-lone, Ligallone, Fastcash, Handycash, and Insta-lone. These platforms falsely promised instant loans to lure users, but once the victims installed the apps and shared permissions, the scammers accessed their private data. Later, this data was misused for blackmail, threats, and extortion.
Investigations revealed that the accused operated under fake identities, used Pakistani phone numbers for communication, and carried out financial transactions through Indian platforms like Google Pay and PhonePe. Several victims were harassed through threatening calls and messages once the scammers obtained access to their contact lists and personal photos.
This crackdown was led by the Cyber Police Station in Pimpri-Chinchwad, who acted upon multiple complaints and traced the digital footprints back to the prime accused. Authorities have urged citizens to remain cautious of apps promising quick loans, especially those not registered with the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), and report any suspicious activity immediately.
Police officials have emphasized the importance of verifying the authenticity of any financial app and not granting access to personal data or contacts unnecessarily.
