Pune | June 21: “Jai Jai Ramkrishn Hari….Gyanoba Mauli, Tukaram!” — the sacred chants reverberated across the streets of Pune as the palkhis of Jagatguru Sant Tukaram Maharaj and Santshreshtha Dnyaneshwar Mauli entered the city on Friday, welcomed by a sea of devout Punekars.
The spiritually charged evening saw lakhs thronging the main routes for a glimpse of the divine padukas as they arrived. This grand tradition of devotion once again graced the city with faith, unity, and vibrant bhakti.
Tukaram Maharaj’s palkhi began its journey early Friday morning from the Vitthal Mandir in Akurdi and reached Pune by evening. It will halt at the Kakhtunga Vitthal Mandir in Nana Peth until June 21 before proceeding to Loni Kalbhor.
Simultaneously, Sant Dnyaneshwar Mauli’s palkhi set out from Gandhi Wada in Alandi and reached the city by nightfall. A joyous welcome unfolded at the iconic Shrimant Dagdusheth Halwai Ganpati Mandir. The palkhi will remain stationed at Bhavani Peth’s temple premises for two days.
In a spiritual gesture, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis arrived in Pune and took darshan of Mauli’s padukas at the Vitthal-Rukmini Mandir in Bhavani Peth. Several local leaders and office-bearers accompanied him during this divine moment.
As the warkari tradition continues its sacred journey toward Pandharpur, Pune once again became a vibrant chapter in this centuries-old pilgrimage of love, surrender, and devotion.
