Mobile Snatchers Nabbed in Nashik’s Indiranagar

Indiranagar Police in Nashik arrest 3 men involved in mobile snatching cases; recover stolen phones and an auto-rickshaw worth ₹2.9 lakh.

Nashik 3 July 2025 : In a significant breakthrough, the Indiranagar Police Station in Nashik city apprehended a gang involved in a spate of mobile phone snatching incidents. Three suspects have been arrested, and stolen property worth ₹2.9 lakh — including several mobile phones and an auto-rickshaw — has been recovered from their possession.

The incident dates back to June 2, 2025, when a mobile phone was forcefully snatched near the Guru Govind College premises. Following the complaint, Police Commissioner Sandeep Karnik, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 2) Monika Raut, and Assistant Commissioner of Police Shekhar Deshmukh instructed the Indiranagar Police Station to expedite the investigation under the supervision of Senior Police Inspector Trupti Sonawane.

Acting on a confidential tip-off, Police Constable Sagar Koli of the Crime Detection Unit learned that the suspects involved in the snatching incident were roaming suspiciously in an auto-rickshaw near the MSEB office in the Pathardi Gaon area of Nashik.

A trap was immediately laid by the crime team comprising PSI Santosh Funde, Police Naik Pawan Pardeshi, Constables Sagar Koli, Amol Kothmire, Pramod Kasude, and Jaylal Rathod. The operation led to the arrest of three individuals:

  1. Shoeb Sadiq Shaikh (age 22), resident of Khadakali, near Kela Mandir, G.P.O. Road, Nashik
  2. Navid Mukhtar Shaikh (age 22), rickshaw driver, resident of Rasulbagh Kabrastan, Khadakali, Nashik
  3. Asif Hussain Shaikh (age 19), resident of Anjuman Galli, Bharatnagar, Vadala-Pathardi Road, Nashik

Upon detailed interrogation, the trio confessed to committing the mobile snatching in Indiranagar and multiple similar thefts across various parts of Nashik city. They admitted to targeting pedestrians and snatching mobile phones while riding in a rickshaw.

Police recovered a total of ₹2.9 lakh worth of stolen goods from the accused, including the snatched phones and the rickshaw used in the crimes. A case has been registered under IPC 2023 Sections 309(4) and 3(5).

The operation was carried out under the guidance of Police Commissioner Sandeep Karnik, DCP Monika Raut, ACP Shekhar Deshmukh, Senior PI Trupti Sonawane, and API (Crime) Sunil Ankolikar. Further investigation is being conducted by Police Hawaldar More.
