Nashik | 25 July, 2025: Â A heart-wrenching tragedy has shaken Malegaon in Nashik district, highlighting the disturbing rise in cases of domestic abuse and crimes against women in the state. In a shocking incident, 28-year-old Harshali Rahul Ahire ended her life along with her two young children by jumping into a well near their home in Saundane village.
Harshali was married to Rahul Ahire and had two children—seven-year-old daughter Aarohi and five-year-old son Sanket. According to her relatives, Harshali was repeatedly harassed and mentally tortured by her in-laws. Unable to bear the suffering any longer, she allegedly took the extreme step of ending not only her own life but also those of her innocent children.
The incident has left the entire village in deep sorrow and anger. Questions are being raised about what fault the two young children had to suffer such a fate. The matter came to light after the bodies were recovered from the well located in the family’s agricultural field.
Based on the family’s complaint, Malegaon Taluka Police have registered a case against Harshali’s husband, mother-in-law, father-in-law, and brother-in-law for abetment to suicide. The police have already taken her husband and father-in-law into custody and are continuing a detailed investigation into the allegations.
This tragedy has sparked widespread outrage and raised alarm about the continuing violence and pressure faced by women within their own homes, especially in rural areas. Villagers are now demanding stricter action and social awareness to prevent such incidents.
