Wrestler Avinash Patil died after illness in Kumthe village. Just five hours later, his grieving mother also passed away. The double tragedy has left the entire village in deep mourning.
Pune | August 8, 2025: Kumthe village in Tasgaon taluka is reeling under a heartbreaking tragedy after a mother and son passed away within hours of each other on Tuesday. The deceased are identified as Avinash Mahadev Patil (54), a well-known wrestler, and his mother Sudhatai Mahadev Patil (75).
Avinash Patil, who lived near the Zilla Parishad School with his family, had long been battling a serious illness. He was a respected figure in the community, known not only for his wrestling achievements but also for encouraging the younger generation to stay away from addiction and take up sports. On Tuesday morning at 5:30 am, he passed away, leaving the village in mourning. His last rites were conducted at 7:30 am.
Tragically, within just five hours, his mother Sudhatai, unable to bear the grief of her son’s death and the pain of witnessing his funeral, also passed away at 11:30 am. The shocking turn of events left the entire village in disbelief and sorrow. Relatives returning from Avinash’s funeral were stunned to learn about Sudhatai’s sudden demise.
The Patil family now mourns the loss of two of its pillars on the same day. Avinash leaves behind his wife, a son, two daughters, a son-in-law, and a daughter-in-law.
Villagers are calling it a cruel twist of fate, and the atmosphere in Kumthe remains somber as the community grieves the irreparable loss.
