After losing his father to alcohol, a young man in Nagpur began targeting bars and wine shops in anger. Arrested after eight thefts, he admitted to spending money on ganja.
Nagpur | August 8, 2025: A shocking case from Nagpur has once again highlighted how alcohol addiction not only destroys health but can break families apart. In a deeply disturbing turn of events, a young man who lost his father to excessive alcohol consumption turned his anger into a series of bar and wine shop thefts across the city. The accused, identified as Raja Khan alias Raja, has been arrested by the Pachpaoli Police for stealing from eight different establishments in Nagpur.
According to police, Raja developed a strong hatred toward bar and wine shop owners after his father’s death due to alcohol addiction a few years ago. In a twisted form of revenge, he began breaking into such establishments and stealing valuables. Ironically, police investigations revealed that he used the stolen money to fund his own ganja addiction, further complicating the case.
The latest theft occurred on July 31 at Mayuri Savji Bar in Rani Durgavati Chowk, where Raja stole ₹36,000 in cash and ₹40,000 worth of cigarette packets. The bar’s owner, Nilesh Devani, filed a complaint, prompting police to review CCTV footage from the premises. The footage helped them identify and arrest Raja, who then confessed to multiple similar thefts.
While he has admitted to eight thefts so far, police believe more cases may come to light during interrogation. The incident has caused panic in the area, with local residents expressing concern over rising thefts and substance abuse.
