Incomplete underpass work near National Water Academy in Nanded has led to waterlogging, slippery roads, and frequent accidents. Locals demand immediate action from the municipal authorities to prevent further mishaps.
Pune | June 25, 2025 – The ongoing construction work of the underpass near the entrance of the National Water Academy in Jadhavnagar, Nanded village, has turned into a public safety hazard. With rains intensifying, incomplete work has narrowed the road, left deep pits, and created dangerous conditions, especially for two-wheeler riders.
Due to the increased height of the underpass, a large depression has formed, but no system has been set up to drain rainwater. As a result, rainwater accumulates and overflows, washing mud, gravel, and sand onto the already narrow road.
This slippery mixture has caused a spike in minor accidents, with two-wheelers frequently skidding. Local residents are alarmed and have urged the municipal administration to act before a major tragedy occurs.
Making matters worse, dumper trucks transporting gravel through Sinhagad Road are dropping fine gravel along the way, posing further risk to two-wheelers. This route is heavily used by commuters from Panshet, Donje, and Khadakwasla, including office-goers and students.
With continuous rainfall, the area has turned into a muddy mess. Potholes, waterlogging, and accumulated construction debris have damaged vehicles and led to frequent tyre punctures.
Citizens are now demanding that the Pune Municipal Corporation’s road department urgently:
- Clear the accumulated muck and debris
- Install proper rainwater drainage
- Ensure safe passage for vehicles, especially two-wheelers
- Monitor dumper traffic and ensure safer transport of gravel
Until these demands are met, locals fear that the road will continue to be an accident-prone zone, especially during the monsoon.
